Vision

The departmental activities are framed in line with the State Water Policy and Kerala Irrigation and Water Conservation Act, Sustainable development, maintenance of quality and efficient management of water resources to match with the growing demands on the precious natural resource of the country.

Mission

Providing assured irrigation to facilitate sustainable agriculture development and food security.

Responsibilities:

• Administration of the Department
• Inter-State Water Sharing
• Flood Control & Coastal Zone management
• Minor Irrigation including Lift Irrigation
• Saltwater exclusion
• Inland Water Transport

There are Circle offices in South, Central and Northern regions for major and minor irrigation works in the Districts of the State.
